Poor VOIP Service; Gizmo ProjectBy Wilbur Corncob at 05/17/07 13:58
I added $20 to my Gizmo Project account today just I have in the past. Only this time, I can't make any calls. After paypal completed the payment I was told that it would be added to my call out balance in 1 to 10 minutes. In the past by the time I checked their website the credit had been added.I contacted customer service at Gizmo Project 23 minutes after I made payment. In the past you credited the call out credits very fast. Now it has been more than the 1-10 minutes quoted.I am using the same verified paypal account as all my previous payments. If this will be an ongoing issue there are plenty of services I can reprogram my box with. Your only possible method of staying in business is with outstanding customer service, which until today was your high point. As of today, the time to switch is on. cc: www.phonehell.com Phone Hell Blog The question will be whether or not I am still a Gizmo Project Customer by the time they finally credit my account. Well the credit hasn't been added by the time I finished writing this blog post.

Gizmo had a great product - cheap calls, good interface, easy to use, works great with Windows and Linux.Customer service and payment problems are killing it. I stopped using it reluctantly a year ago due to the company switching to using only those companies that take another slice out of your account: Paypal and the Google thing. When it briefly allowed the use of stand alone credit cards again, it screwed up the payment credit and then was entirely unreachable to have it corrected. Too bad, Gizmo - there are too many alternatives for customers to put up with this, no matter how good your product. Comment #3 By Wilbur Corncob at 03/27/09 06:16
They can't seem to decide about paypal. When I started using Gizmo they accepted paypal. Then they stopped (and I stopped using their service that cost money). Then they started accepting paypal again. I started using their pay services again. Then they stopped accepting paypal. I have used any of their pay services since. Maybe they are back to accepting paypal again, I hope. With my poor customer service experiences, I'd never give them a payment form that put them in control... ie a credit card. With paypal, I SEND money when I want. With a credit card they can TAKE MONEY when they want. No thanks.
