How do you disconnect your phone lines?

By Wilbur Corncob at 05/23/07 13:53

I called Verizon yesterday to disconnect 3 of my five telephone lines with them. First I got an office in Texas rather than Pennsylvania. That was after 10 minutes of hassle with clueless automated system.

When I finally got a nice lady that "could" help me. We went over things. My biggest fear was that they would disconnected the wrong numbers. But she was very careful and triple checked the numbers.

For two of the number she said she didn't know how to disconnect them (she didn't said ISDN, but it is an ISDN line). She then called the department that was supposed to deal with that, but she said they didn't know how either.

So today, one of the lines was disconnected and the other two are still functional (and I presumed I am billing billed for them).

The interesting question is if no one know hows to disconnect those lines, can I stop paying the bill and continue to receive service? If they can disconnect the service if I don't pay the bill (which I suspect they can) why can't I call and have it voluntarily disconnected?

Calling back is far too serve self punishment so I will need to send a fax to the Chairman of the Board aka executive office of Verizon.

Do you people really think that if you can't get help from customer service having your phone line disconnected, you'll get it by posting a public message requesting it?!!?

Why don't you contact the CEO or Chairman of the Board of Verzion?

I have to call and disconnect. I am dreading doing it! I have had nothing but problems with verizon, there services, and there automated systems. They are hands down, the worst company I have had to deal with on any level! I won't EVER use them again!

this is so rediculious. i can not believe how long this customer service leaves you o hold forever. their probaly hoping you'll hang up so the service doesn't get disconnected. Then well they finally do answer the try everything in the book to keep you on with their service. Such crappy service.

I am having some major problems with Verizon. They are stating I am sending them bad checks via their website to pay my bill. Verizon is now acusing me of fraud and that they are sending my account to their fraud department.

Their customer advacy department told me they cannot help me. A supervisor was supposed to call me back and never did.

I need to talk to someone high up within Verizon and nobody within Verizon will point me in the right direction on how to contact someone to get this resolved.

Does anyone have any corporate or executive office information on how to contact someone who might do something for me?

Thank you.

I am trying to disconnect my phone service. I have called 3 different times today, and

am put on hold for up to a half an hour. Don't the phone company have enough operators? What am I sp

upposed to do now? Would someone please call me?

Verizon had me on hold for 35 min before I hung up trying to disconnect phone service..You are right, they want you to give up and keep the service. I was on hold for 8 days when I tried to have internet fixed.

I won't ever work with this company again.

But I still don't know how to stop service yet.

Account number 012590117628948003

please confirm via email when disconnect

Comment #16 G. Nelson L. at 10/19/09 07:26
I would never expect any phone company to stop billing me, just because they couldn't find the expertise to disconnect a line. They ALWAYS know how to generate and send bills. That's their real area of expertise, not telephonic communications.
